LOCATION:

• How far is Mafolie Hotel from the Airport? How do I get there?

Mafolie Hotel is about 15-20 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. You can get to the hotel by taxi, or by car if you are renting one. Taxis are readily available at the airport.

• Is the Mafolie within walking distance to Downtown?

Technically, yes. However, the road from the Mafolie to Downtown is narrow, winding, steep, heavily-traveled, and without sidewalks. Although a number of our guests have made the journey without incident, walking is not recommended.

HOTEL ROOM ACCOMMODATIONS:

• What is the difference between a Standard Room and a Deluxe Room?

Deluxe rooms are similar to Standard rooms in their accommodations. Deluxe rooms, however, have an extra amenity or dimension not found in a Standard room, such as a private balcony, a full-sized futon, or an unobstructed view of the harbor.

• How many people can stay in a room?

All of our rooms are priced for double occupancy. Standard rooms are limited to two adults. Under special circumstances, however, a third adult can stay in a standard room for an additional $15.00 per night, as long as the third adult doesn’t mind sleeping on the floor on a sleeping pad. Deluxe rooms without futons or a second bed are also subject to the same restrictions.

Deluxe rooms with futons and Mini-suites can accommodate up to four adults at a charge of $15.00 per extra person per night.

• Can I reserve Room No. 7?

Like Shangri-La, Brigadoon, and Atlantis, Room No. 7 at Mafolie Hotel is a mythical destination. The legend began as a comment in Frommer’s Virgin Islands guidebook entry on accommodations at the Mafolie: “No. 7 is preferred.” However, there is no Room No. 7; and neither we nor the previous owners (who ran the Mafolie for 30 years) have any idea to which room the guidebook is referring. (On the other hand, if we ever decide to open a piano bar or nightclub on the premises, Room No. 7 seems like an inspired name.)

• Do any of your rooms have kitchenettes?

Mafolie Hotel does not have any accommodations with kitchenettes. However, several of our rooms are furnished with microwave ovens, and one can be provided upon request.

AMENITIES:

• Does Mafolie Hotel have Internet access?

At this time, the Mafolie does not offer Internet access. However, there are several internet cafes both Downtown and in Havensight.

• Is there a pool at the Mafolie?

Mafolie Hotel has a delightful swimming pool and Pool Bar with a beautiful view of Charlotte Amalie harbor.

• Does Mafolie Hotel offer laundry facilities?

Currently, Mafolie Hotel does not offer laundry service for our guests. However, there are several self-serve or drop-off Laundromats and dry cleaners on the island.

RESTAURANT:

• What is the dress code at Mafolie Restaurant?

There is no particular dress code at Mafolie Restaurant. As a guideline, collared shirts and khaki shorts or pants are always acceptable.

MISCELLANEOUS:

• Is there parking at the Mafolie?

The Mafolie offers a limited number of parking spaces on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as on-street parking.

• Does Mafolie Hotel allow pets?

As a general rule, no.

• Is the water at the Mafolie safe to drink?

Yes. The Mafolie’s water comes from rainwater that is collected in cisterns. The water is physically filtered and then purified via an ultra-violet filtration system.
